| Synopsis | Angela’s story begins as a young woman in Ballaro, the market neighbourhood of Palermo. Angela gets married when she is twenty to Saro, a tough and ruthless Mafia man, and for years shares his life of drugs, crime and easy money. She is wife, mistress and trusted accomplice to her husband. The life she leads fascinates her, she enjoys the luxury, the wealth, and above all the risk. She gave up her family for him, turned her back on an honest future and good work.
Angela is the story of a woman in a world filled with laws written by men. It also paints a fresco of a world of men, at various times both cruel and disarmed, who are constantly forced to deny their own true feelings. The film is based on a true story and was film in Palermo at the locations – both exteriors and interiors – where the actual events occurred.
